Hussain Sajwani founded Damac Properties in 2002. The headquarters of Damac Properties are located in Dubai. As the current chairman of Damac Group, Mr. Sajwani leads various operations such as the development of commercial, leisure, and residential properties in the Middle East and Dubai among other regions. Damac Properties has ongoing real estate projects in London, Beirut, Dubai, Jeddah, Amman, Doha and Riyadh.
Mr. Sajwani has a proven track record of leading successful business deals in global equity and capital market. Due to his confidence and great leadership qualities, Hussain holds several investments in both regional and worldwide markets. Hussain Sajwani has acquired shares in DICO Investment Firm which invests in acquisitions, mergers, and private equities. DICO Investments Company also has minority and majority holdings in most public companies in Dubai. DICO looks for viable opportunities of value proposition in the regional and global investment sphere.
Hussain Sajwani has a strong education background and an exciting career history. The Damac owner graduated from Washington University with a BSc in industrial engineering and economics. Upon graduation, Sajwani was employed at Abu Dhabi National Oil Company. Hussain Sajwani’s served as the Contracts Manager for the company. While still working at Abu Dhabi National Oil Company, he felt inspired to start his own business. In 1982, Mr. Sajwani started a catering venture that still operates in Dubai. Hussain also founded Twilight Investment Company to expand his business empire.
Mr. Sajwani started Damac Properties after identifying a business opportunity from the government’s decree that allowed non-emirates to buy and own property in Dubai. Hussain knew that the main buyers of his company’s properties would be foreigners, so he went ahead to make massive investments. Hussain Sajwani bought land and developed real estate projects under Damac Properties. In six months, Mr. Sajwani sold all units in the completed 38-storey building.
Hussain Sajwani family has played a significant role in running the business through maintaining good working relationship with notable people such as Donald Trump. Damac Properties partnered with Trump’s real estate company to develop an international golf course in Dubai. The Damac Group also paid Trump’s company subsidiaries between $1 million to $5 million to invest in development projects in the region.
